    John Hay Community,

I will be leaving the principal position at Hay and have accepted the position to lead Orca K-8 beginning July 1st. While I will miss John Hay, I am both excited and honored to take on this new challenge.

For the past five years, I have had the absolute pleasure of leading John Hay Elementary school and helping to deliver innovative and dynamic education to the students lucky enough to call John Hay their school! As I have reflected on my time at Hay, I am proud of the focus and commitment to delivering a world class education for every student in our care. We have grown as a community and as a school staff. I believe you can feel the school P.R.I.D.E. as you walk the halls and I know the students have benefited from our focus on the character traits these letters represent.

The staff is filled with hard-working and remarkable people that care deeply about all students. This is a school full of leaders and learners who are fully engaged in the work. It has been an honor to work alongside you! The community members are outstanding, and so supportive! The focus is truly on making the school a rich learning environment for every child, not just “my child” or “my students”. The students are truly amazing and from the very first interactions I had with them, I have been impressed with their desire to learn, their individuality, and the energy each one of them brings to school every day. This is absolutely a great school.

As our whole world has changed during this closure, I have been so grateful for the work of teachers, students, and parents to help the students feel safe and continue learning in new ways. It is a difficult time to leave knowing we won’t be back in the building to celebrate the end of the year and have the last dance party before Summer Break! However, I know you are all in good hands. You have enriched my life and I am forever grateful!

    Sincerely,
    Tami Beach
