At John Hay Elementary School, we strive to inform our community about school events, school needs, volunteer support, community updates, new initiatives, and all the day by day happenings in the halls of this extraordinary school. Each year we make new efforts to ensure we are meeting the communication needs of every John Hay family. Here is a list of ways we communicate and how. If we have missed one, please email us at info@johnhaypartners.org. Our goal is to keep you as well-informed as we can. For details on Seattle Public Schools communications and policies, please visit the Seattle Public Schools website.

    Red Folders (aka: Kid Mail)

Once we return to in-person instruction, your child will be given a red folder that is to go to and from school each day in their backpack. Your child's classroom teacher will use this folder to send home permission slips, homework, event announcement, classroom newsletters, and much more. It is vital that you check this folder daily.

    SeeSaw

New this year! The SeeSaw app allows you to see school, teacher, and student communication without relying on emails. Be sure to download it today!

    School Messenger

The School Messenger system is used by Seattle Public Schools to email, text, or call our families directly about events, announcements, and the like. Consider downloading the School Messenger app, especially for additional languages.

We will provide the conversation code at the meeting.

    Jaguar Tracks

John Hay Elementary School sends a weekly bulletin, AKA Jaguar Tracks, via the school messenger. This email newsletter is our all-school communication sent every Friday. It includes John Hay Elementary school information that is relevant to the entire school community. Important dates, social events, enrichment information, community celebrations, school-wide volunteer needs, links to PTO/Partners news, and district & legislative announcements are all common topics in our weekly newsletter. To be kind to the environment, the newsletter is sent digitally and posted on our website, yet if you would like a paper version our John Hay Office staff can accommodate. Send them an email at emhayes@seattleschools.org and they can add one to your child’s red folder. We try to cover all the important need to know facts, yet if you have feedback, community news, or an article you would like to be added it must be sent to the John Hay Office Staff by Noon on Thursday.

    John Hay Elementary School Blog

Would love to see more around a certain topic? Let us know by emailing info@johnhaypartners.org.

    Room Parent Emails

We are lucky to have a wonderful team of dedicated parents who work hard to get the word out about all things happening at Hay. You should be receiving emails from your classroom parent periodically starting by October. If you are not receiving any communications, please contact your child's teacher to be sure we have the best email by which to contact you. If you would like to be a room parent in the coming year, please email our PTO/Partners Family Engagement Lead. Thank you!
