Huchoosedah Native Education applies annually for federally funding through the Title VI Indian Education Formula Grant program that assists Native American, Alaskan Native, and American Indian students in Seattle Public Schools in grades K-12. We believe that the academic success of Native students is grounded in a strong sense of cultural identity and belonging.

    NOTICE: May 10th, 2018

Our grant for 2018-19, was approved for an amount of $133,697. We will be hiring an Intervention Specialist 1.0, to replace Richard Summers and funding our program for this year.

We are in a four year grant cycle with the same two objectives: K-5 literacy, academic achievement and drop-out prevention.

Some notes about this funding. This funding is for providing supplementary educational services to eligible Native students.

The Office of Indian Education will not approve:

    • Student banquets, dinners, ceremonies
    • Student incentives, stipends, scholarships, or personal articles/items
    • Parental costs or stipends
    • Basic transportation costs of students
    • Vehicle purchases by the district

In order for the cost of an activity to be approved, it must be related to an objective that is based on a documented student need.

I want to thank everyone who submitted ED 506 forms for this year's funding. We were able to increase our funding by $11,000.! We will be writing the application based on the federal allocation of $133,697 pending the approval of our application.

Great Job! Let's keep letting parents know about the 506 forms. We need to keep increasing our numbers. Our funding goes down with each student that leaves the district or graduates.
