As SPS works to close out the school year and prepare for next fall, we wanted to remind everyone that, in general, buildings are closed to students, families and staff who are not deemed to be "essential employees" during this time. There will be limited instances where staff will be allowed to access classrooms and schools, which will be on a pre-arranged schedule.

Your safety and the safety of staff and community are our priority. Social distancing, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and a screening process will be in effect for anyone entering school buildings. These steps are especially paramount as we plan and prepare for students to retrieve personal items and staff to close-up classrooms in June. The District will follow all local, state and federal guidelines to ensure each individual employee's physical safety.

Below are details of the District health and safety standards we need to ensure are consistently in place across the entire district. If you have questions or need assistance, please email healthinformation@seattleschools.org.

BELOW IS A LIST OF STEPS SPS IS TAKING TO ENSURE BUILDING SAFETY:

    COVID-19 SIGNAGE

Posting of three required posters from Student Health Services. These posters will be at all main entrances and/or where appropriate.

    SCREENING PROCESS

Screening of all persons entering is required at all building sites.  All staff and visitors must self-screen and sign in upon entry (sign in sheet linked here). Principals are responsible for implementing and maintaining the screening process at each site, ensuring the following safeguards:

    • All persons are to self-screen upon entry, and sign in, affirming they have no symptoms
    • A designated container of sanitized pens to be provided for staff use
    • Each pen is to be used once and sanitized before next use

    SAFETY PROTOCOLS:

    • Masks must be worn in all common areas.
    • 6 FT social distancing is to be observed.
    • Staff are to remain in areas necessary to perform critical tasks

    BUILDING ACCESS

Ensure the following safety measures are followed:

    • ALL sites are to remain closed to non-essential personnel
    • The schedule for classroom packing and locker clean out should always meet Public Health guidelines.
    • We have linked the School Building Health and Safety Protocol PowerPoint that provides an overview of these protocols.
