The mission of the Student Council is to improve the life of students at school and to solve problems thoughtfully through responsible leadership.
 
The Student Council meets once a month and is comprised of two representatives from each second though fifth grade class.

In addition to sponsoring School Spirit Days and public stewardship activities, the students form groups that focus on one aspect of  student life at John Hay that needs improvement.  These groups are led by the fifth grade representatives.  The Student Council shows what they are working on, on a bulletin board by the elevator that is updated frequently.
