The entire John Hay staff is excited to get back to working with our students. As a community school we are here for you, so please feel free to reach out to us when you have questions, needs, concerns, or celebrations.

With excitement,

First Day of School & New Start Time

The first day of school for grades 1-5 is Wednesday, September 6.

School Supply Fee on School Pay

Instead of families having to buy supplies individually, we request that every family pay a $50 fee for school supplies. This enables the school to buy all the supplies students will need in the classroom. Extra donations are very much appreciated because not all families can pay this fee. If paying the fee presents a hardship for your family, please only pay what you are able. If needed scholarships are available; please let us know.

It would be great for each child to also have a backpack and water bottle. Your child’s teacher will let you know if they are in need of tissues or sanitizing wipes. Please label your student’s belongings.

The supply fee can be paid on SchoolPay starting Friday, August 18.

Source Account

If you haven’t already, please set up your Source Account. The Source is where you can see your child’s progress report, absences and pay supply and field trip fees. Students will have this account throughout their Seattle Schools career.

School Lunch

School lunch is no longer free for all of our students. You can either load money into an account on  PayPams, www.paypams.com or you can apply for free/reduced lunch through this free/reduced lunch application.

SPS reduced meals webpage with information on income levels to qualify. When students qualify, it helps with our school’s funding, so please fill it out even if you think you may not qualify.

Report Absences/Late Arrivals/Pick Up Changes

Please report all absences, planned or not, to the main office:

That was a lot of information. Please reach out if you have any questions.

We look forward to seeing all of you soon, and to the start of a fantastic 2023-2024 school year!
