I was born in the Philippines and came to California when I was 7. I’ve lived in Cali, Oklahoma and Minnesota. Now Washington. Love it here and don’t think we’ll leave. I have two lovely dogs and a husband. I enjoy hiking, camping, running, kayaking, and painting. My favorite animal is an alpaca. I earned my Master’s of Speech-Language Pathology at MSU, Mankato and have worked as a SLP for six years (3 years with pre-k to 12th grade at a school district in MN, 1 year at a children’s pediatric clinic in Renton, WA, and this is my third year here at SPS).
Looking forward to being part of the John Hay family too! 😊
Emmy Misner is a veteran teacher who currently works as the librarian at Viewlands Elementary and John Hay Elementary. She is a California transplant who arrived in Seattle in 1998 and has spent the years since teaching 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. When not working she enjoys reading, volunteering for STG, tinkering on her computer, and spending time with her family which includes two UW students, her husband, and her crazy puppy, Phoebe. If you are interested in volunteering in the library, please email Emmy at elmisner@seattleschools.org.
I have been a Special Education teacher at John Hay since 2004 and I am a proud (former) John Hay parent! I received my dual certification in General Education and Special Education at WWU and my M.Ed. at UW. I have taught in New Zealand and Japan, and am proud to call both Seattle and Hawaii home. My passion is working with and advocating for our students with special needs. John Hay Rocks!
My name is Shea and I am an Instructional Assistant at the preschool here at John Hay! I love gardening, creating, and cooking. I also like to spend time with friends, family, and my cat, Chessie! I am super happy to be a part of the John Hay community!
